2015 Challenge: Recycle Rush
The 2015 FRC challenge, called
“Recycle Rush” is the newest in a series of FRC challenges. Recycle Rush is played by two competing Alliances on a 27 x 54 foot field. An Alliance consists of three robots. They compete to score points by stacking Totes on Scoring Platforms, capping those stacks with Recycling Containers, and properly disposing of Litter, represented by pool noodles, in designated locations during a 2 minute and 15 second match. The match begins with a 15-second Autonomous Period. During this Autonomous Period, robots move the yellow totes and recycling bins. The yellow totes stacked during this period are worth extra points. For the rest of the match, drivers control robots and try to maximize their Alliance score by stacking as many recycling containers on top of the stacks of tote. Alliances can also choose to work together and get a cooperative bonus by putting four yellow totes on the step, the area in between each side. A nice addition to this year’s game, the components used in the event—the totes, recycling containers, and litter—will be recycled or reused at the end of the season, either by the teams, or by FIRST.
